Imprisoned by SELF

Imprisoned by self

This phenomenon requirement of immense understanding of how and why people who had said prayer to accept Jesus Christ and had walked the life of a Christian and yet are being trapped by their Own imprisonment without Knowing. Outwardly they seems alright but most of the time, without knowing, it is the self convincing and self consoling of being okay that make them a Whitewashed wall Christian. Only through conviction and the grace of Lord Jesus that one may be broken down and only if out of the emptiness one could realized the needs to be wholly filled by the goodness of the Holy spirit, then they will be released Completely from the bondage to the Self and worldliness by the shedding of the blood of Jesus Christ. We will be using the 2 different lives, a big contrast between Lot and Job.

LOT, imprisoned by selfishness all his life.

Genesis 13:5-12 “And Lot also, which went with Abram, had flocks, and herds, and tents. And the land was not able to bear them, that they might dwell together: for their substance was great, so that they could not dwell together. And there was a strife between the herdmen of Abram’s cattle and the herdmen of Lot’s cattle: and the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelled then in the land. And Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen; for we be brethren. Is not the whole land before thee? separate thyself, I pray thee, from me: if thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if thou depart to the right hand, then I will go to the left. And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar. Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other. Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom.”

LOT was Abram’s cousin. God blessed Abram so much that the land is not able to hold Abram and Lot’s family. There were strift between them so Abram suggested that they stay separate. But Lot was very SELFISH, without showing gratitude to what Abram had done for him. He chooses the best land for himself. This action of Selfishness of Lot later birth to Lot being in league with cursed Cities where Sodom and Gomorrah becomes very evil and God had the Angels destroyed them. Thus the cities represent SELF and Ground (Worldliness).

LOT, imprisoned by his doubts.

Genesis 19:17-38 “And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed. And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my Lord. Behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die. Behold now, this city is near to flee unto, and it is a little one: Oh, let me escape thither, (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live. And he said unto him, See, I have accepted thee concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow this city, for the which thou hast spoken. Haste thee, escape thither; for I cannot do any thing till thou be come thither. Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar. And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters. And it came to pass on the morrow, that the firstborn said unto the younger, Behold, I lay yesternight with my father: let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, and lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our Father. And they made their father drink wine that night also: and the younger arose, and lay with him; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose. Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father. And the firstborn bare a son, and called his name Moab: the same is the father of the Moabites unto this day. And the younger, she also bare a son, and called his name Benammi: the same is the father of the children of Ammon unto this day.”

So Lot had requested the Lord (Angels) to dwell in City called Zoar so that he and his daughters can dwell there. Unfortunately, he let his thoughts, (which is the Evil of all things) take control of him and he becomes DOUBTFUL and thus leading him into the Mountain where sin of incest was committed between him and his daughters. The offspring of the SIN (as a result of doubts) thus give birth to Enemies of GOD, the Moabites and Ammonites. In another words, doubts cost Lot to lost his Spiritual Life. The blessings from God which Lot had requested (a new place), he did not received it gracefully leads him to another place of curse since he moved further away from God’s blessing.

So, for us Christian, we really have to examine ourselves. Did we make request from God our Lord Jesus for things and then discard it just because our thoughts is that it come too easily and we decided to lusts for something better and better? Be careful, my Friends the “better” things that perceive could be a curse or in fact it is the temptation of the Shadow of Darkness.

Lot had never get out as a FREE unselfish man to serve God but instead he was imprisoned by his SELFISHNESS. (Where it is the SELF CENTRED thought that creates doubts in God’s given Vision) For it is selfishness that makes him think that he is more righteous than others, doubting all the time. What he wanted is the best for himself. His life is spent on sins.

Job, the unselfish FREE man.

Job 1:21-22 “And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD. In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.

God allowed Satan to test Job. He lost everything and yet he didn’t blame God. Instead he still blessed the name of the LORD. His profound declaration that everything is provided and given by God, and the LORD has every right to take it away from him.

His three good friends, Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar sat them with Job for seven days and seven nights to mourn with him without saying a word. What a great friends! In our modern society who can sit down with a friend for even 3 days without talking? But all three of them break their silent and trying to say that Job suffered because he had sinned and ask him to repent. But Job in his unselfish righteousness found no comfort from his friend. In the end, Job passed the test and he the LORD restored Job’s losses when he prayed for his friends.

Job 42:7-10 “And it was so, that after the LORD had spoken these words unto Job, the LORD said to Eliphaz the Temanite, My wrath is kindled against thee, and against thy two friends: for ye have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job hath. Therefore take unto you now seven bullocks and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you: for him will I accept: lest I deal with you after your folly, in that ye have not spoken of me the thing which is right, like my servant Job. So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went, and did according as the LORD commanded them: the LORD also accepted Job.
And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.”

So it is true, all Children of God, being Christian are subject to test. A great man like Job is unselfish is a FREE man serving God. While those who are selfish would not be able to understand God’s work.

Both punishment by God (because of sins and curse) and testing by Satan (as authorised by God) may result in the same way, lost of love one, possession, strike with sickness and other adversity.

There are differences between those Christians under punishment and those Christians under test. Those under punishment has NO direct communication with God and the danger for these group of people is that they aren’t aware and thought that they are under test. All these punishments are a result of bondage to one’s SELFISHNESS.

Where Selfishness is the root of all sins.

While Christian under Test may suffer the same thing but they still has direct communication with God. God will continue to chasten them, guide them and eventually lift them out of adversity and rewards them abundantly.

Christian under punishment needs someone of good faith to intercede on their behalf for forgiveness, just like Job intercede for his three friends Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar. If they turn around and repent they will be forgiven, but if they stayed as rebellious and being stubborn. They will never get out of the imprisonment. Forever imprisoned by Self.
