“Empty Vase makes the most noise”
That is some old saying, when you hit the vase that is empty, it will makes more noise than those that is filled with water. That applys to us, meaning that people who are empty minded tends to makes most noise, be boastful as though they knew a lot of things, just as it is, if you filled up this vase. The noise is lesser, because the more intelligent, cunning kind will kept quiet and speak out loud when it is more profitable for them.
Well, for Biblical application, we can look at it in another way, that the vase represents the human heart. When oneself is empty of the goodness of the Holy Spirit. He tends to makes a lot of noise out of Jealousy, anger, vengeful, discontented, and no goodness will come out of the mouth. So for a human heart that is empty of the Holy Spirit, it is slowly, but surely will be filled with worldly desire, materialism and this person may not makes much noise but harbors ill intentions.
So who is a more dangerous person? The one that complains a lot or the one who is very quiet, but harbors evil thoughts?
Another old saying “A barking dog doesn’t bite!” That is right; the dog that doesn’t bark will bite you viciously. The Bible also advised us to stay away from such people. So how can the person hear God’s calling? Especially where our Lord Jesus said
Re:3:20: “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”
How can a person, being noisy internally able to hear our Lords calling? I remembered bumping into my colleagues a few time while on the way to office and I greeted them “Good Morning” but they did not return the greetings. Why are they so unfriendly? Now I found out, this is because they have earpiece plugged to their ear, listening to Songs from Mobile phone or MP3. No wonder they didn’t return my greetings. Their pair of ears and mind is full of music noise, so whatever good greeting from outside. They CAN’T hear. That proved the point.
If we are noisy inside us, we can’t hear nor pay attention to other people, especially our Lord’s calling. This applies to Christian also, sometimes, we lost focus on our Lord Jesus, Our SELF takes control of our action, that SELF CONTROL without the Holy Spirit (The Helper) becomes NOISE and we can’t hear instructions from Our Lord Jesus, thus not being able to do God’s will. Not doing God’s will, will be met with lots of obstacle, unclear direction and also causing problems not to own self but to others people.
So, where do we go from here? Either you are filled by the Holy Spirit in your Heart, which will gives you all the Goodness such as Love, faith, grace, humble, etc or be filled with worldly desires, mixture of good and bad, anger, jealousy, evil thought, vengeful, etc. So make your choice today my friend, you can either be Empty Vase making the most noise or be filled with Holy Spirit, THE HELPER ie. Receiving Salvation from Lord Jesus so that all goodness will come out of you, sharing blessing and Gospel like spreading light in the darkness, like kindled fire warming every cold corner of the earth. Mark 10:14 “But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.”
Mark 10:15 “Verily I say unto you, whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter herein.”
Unless one is as humble as little children, he cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven. On the same token, he can’t hear the voice of Our Lord Jesus because he is far away from GOD.
He needs the Holy Spirit to come into him to help him suppress the “Noisy Self” and remove the worldliness completely not once but constantly through prayer and cleansing with our Lord Jesus’ Blood.
